THE HAPPY MAN
Traditional Spanish tale and it is about Sadness and Power as told by Rainb0w at Deadmen Tales.
Some philosophers believe that the meaning of life resides in finding happiness. Have you begun your search?
A king, saddened by the loss of his queen, delegated his power to his only son, a prince full of virtues: handsome and good, he defended the kingdom without giving any rest to the enemy, he played the violin marvelously, he cared for Nature but...
He wasn't happy! And that's what he told his father. The king, alarmed by the unsettling news, surrounded himself with wise men and after several days they reached the conclusion that they should look for the shirt of a happy man. But what should a happy man be like?
Well, a man who was at peace with himself and didn't want to change his condition either for money or power or anything.
The king and his soldiers began asking here and there but they didn't
find any man with these characteristics. Until they found a woodcutter
and...
"Are you happy?", the king asked him. "Yes, majesty, I'm happy", answered the good man. "Well I'll name you councilman for city planning", answered the king. "No, please, I'm happy and I don't want to change anything in my life or in those of other people".
The king immediately ordered that they take off the man's clothes, and how surprised they were to discover that under his cape the happy man had no shirt.
THE MORAL OF THE TALE:
Happiness is not something that we can buy or steal: one must fight internally without rest to achieve it.
