10. Always keep the bag o' salt by your bed.
You ever see that ball of light on Trinidad? I know you did, you just never tell anyone. Is like a large fireball and make it way through the island and forest.
You ever see it under your door, be a warned and run way fast.
She is the Soucouyant. You mebbe think she is old nice woman in daytime, sweeping the path, but she watching you.
At night she shed her skin like her old sleeping shirt, buries it in the coral and it is strange colors. But old Soucouyant, she become a fireball.
She slip under the door and find you sleeping and suck the drops of blood from yer arms and legs.
You mebbe had too much rum and you don't notice. She suck you blood all away and you see at last minute. If you lived a bad life, you become an old lady Soucouyant. Shivers.
You see the fireball in your village you grab your bag o' salt. Look down by the coral for that skin and rub de salt in deep. Make it too hurtful for old Soucouyant to put back on and she trapped in her fireball when sun come up. You hear her long scream as she burns up.
Some time you see old skinwalker Soucouyant in the field, up to no good. She kill the crops. She suck it so dry the field even goes away.
When old Soucouyant see all that salt by yer beds, she mebbe look for the chicken to suck. Or baby cow.
